Gula Java is flower sugar. As such, it has the same properties as honey: antioxidant, with a very low glycemic index, and extremely rich in trace elements. As I eat more and more unrefined sugars due to my heartburn, I’m excited to bring this one to my closet grocery store. It is very smooth, floral (haha, who would have thought it) and not very sweet on the palate (which avoids that bitterness that refined cane sugar leaves when it is cooked and there is too much of it).
